Wendy Perron, former member of Trisha Brown Dance Company, author of Through the Eyes of a Dancer, and former editor-in-chief of Dance Magazine, presents a slide lecture on this pivotal moment in dance history. With influences from Anna Halprin, Merce Cunningham, and John Cage, Judson Dance Theatre ignited an explosion of experimentation by visual artists, composers, poets, and dancers. Their performances questioned everything about modern dance as it existed in 1962. Includes rare photos of works by Yvonne Rainer, Steve Paxton, Trisha Brown, David Gordon, Lucinda Childs, Robert Rauschenberg, Carolee Schneemann, and others.
